Architecture and building traditions
Large areas of Finnmark and North Troms were burned to the ground by the retreating German army in 1944. This caused the disappearance of most habitations, traditional buildings, huts and timber houses from the landscape. However, some of the old buildings did survive, and these have been restored and preserved for posterity. These give an insight into the way of life of the people before modern times.
