This year's buošši 2025 is a person who, over many decades, has passed on Sea Sámi traditional knowledge from one generation to another. She has been a pillar in Manndalen. Buošši-the winner is none other than Oliva Nilsen.

In Nord-Troms, buošši A gender-neutral term of honour awarded to individuals who excel through diligence, commitment, courage, and initiative.

This year's Buošši is Oliva Nilsen from Manndalen. She is awarded the prize for her lifelong commitment to sea Sami duodji and sea Sami food traditions. Ever since childhood, she has worked with traditional Sami handicraft and cooking, and she has been an important disseminator of knowledge and cultural heritage.

Oliva masters a range of traditional handicraft techniques. Among other things, she has woven branches and *komag* laces, knitted and sewn *komager*, and through her work has helped to keep important traditions alive. She has also participated in several documentaries and book projects that highlight Sami culture and history.

Through her many years of work, she has been a central contributor to highlighting and strengthening Sámi sea culture in the region. She is described as a role model and an important resource person who has been at the forefront of preserving and disseminating Sámi culture after the period of Norwayisation.

Oliva Nilsen is a worthy recipient of this year's Buošši prize and an important custodian of our sea Sami cultural heritage.
