Skjervøy church is now a listed building and is the oldest preserved wooden church in Nord-Hålogaland. In earlier times, it was compulsory to visit the church, and people came travelling from surrounding fjords and islands. In this way, the church became a central gathering point, even outside of church services.

When Liv Rundberg arrived in Kåfjord in 1965, the Sami were not very visible in the municipality. Thanks to her work, a hidden Sea Sami cultural treasure has been given new life.

In Sámi tradition, you should utilise as much as possible of the animal that was slaughtered. Most of the offal was used in cooking. Most commonly, the food was salted, hung and dried, and then used in soups and stews.

On 30 November 1925, forced sales were registered in the village of Manndalen, and the sheriff and his entourage turned up. They were met by angry people from Manndalen who asked them to leave the village. The sheriff replied that he would beat the heads off the villagers.

After fighting for more than a hundred years over property rights to Čáhput / Svartskogen, the people of Manndalen won a historic victory over the state in 2001. The Supreme Court judgement concluded that the inhabitants of Manndalen have both the right to use and the right to own the large area of open land. The basis for the judgement was «age-old use».
