The portal also disseminates knowledge about Kven culture and stories.Through unique material in the form of text, audio and images, we make these stories accessible and alive for both current and future generations. The portal has been developed by the Centre for Northern Peoples to highlight the rich diversity of our shared northern cultural heritage.

Inger Ellen Baal is a proud Sámi woman from Kåfjord in Troms, known for her commitment to Sámi culture and rights. She grew up on the plateau in a lavvo with her parents and four siblings, where the family lived from reindeer herding. When the Guolášjohka power plant was built more than 50 years ago, they lost their grazing land, leading to the loss of their traditional livelihood.
