She grew up on the plateau in a lavvo with her parents and four siblings, where the family lived from reindeer herding. When the Guol\u00e1\u0161johka power plant was built more than 50 years ago, they lost their grazing land, leading to the loss of their traditional livelihood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Inger Ellen never learned to read or write, she has been an invaluable asset to the local community. She has helped preserve and pass on Sami language and culture, and her knowledge has been a great inspiration to new generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, the documentary film&nbsp;<em>Eallin<\/em>, directed by \u00d8rjan Marakatt Bertelsen, made about her life.
