Leiros, Buo\u0161\u0161i award winner Oliva Helene Nilsen, Camilla Brattland, Bente Ovedie Skogvang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Nord-Troms, <strong>buo\u0161\u0161i<\/strong> A gender-neutral term of honour awarded to individuals who excel through diligence, commitment, courage, and initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year's Buo\u0161\u0161i is Oliva Nilsen from Manndalen. She is awarded the prize for her lifelong commitment to sea Sami duodji and sea Sami food traditions. Ever since childhood, she has worked with traditional Sami handicraft and cooking, and she has been an important disseminator of knowledge and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oliva masters a range of traditional handicraft techniques. Among other things, she has woven branches and *komag* laces, knitted and sewn *komager*, and through her work has helped to keep important traditions alive. She has also participated in several documentaries and book projects that highlight Sami culture and history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through her many years of work, she has been a central contributor to highlighting and strengthening S\u00e1mi sea culture in the region.
