Anniversaries in January

January slowly brings light back into the world, but it can also be sharp and cold. The sun awakens gently in the middle of the month, peeks out for a moment in the middle of the day, before disappearing again behind the horizon. Still, there's comfort in the fact that the year is slowly beginning to brighten.

  • 1 January, New Year's Day
  • 6 January, Epiphany
  • 13 January, Saint Knut's Day
  • 19 January, Henriksdag

January starts with New Year's Day, which is also an official flag day. According to ancient weather signs, a cloudless sky on this day is said to herald a dry summer, while mild and cloudy weather promises a lush and beautiful summer.

  1. On 1 January, or better known as New Year's Day, it's important to look at the stars around midnight. If there are a lot of stars around midnight, it's going to be a good cloudberry year and it will also bring a good year of growth. But if it's cloudy, it will bring a summer of poor growth and cold weather. Another weather sign to look out for is that if it snows on New Year's Day, it will be a good fishing year.
