Hanna grew up on the sheriff's farm Karnes on a model farm with agriculture, a mill, a stamping mill, a cloth press, a lime works and a nursing home for the insane.
Hanna Oxaas, married Rivertz, Lyngseidet (1861- 1941)
Her childhood home was a cultural centre even before Hanna married sheriff Petter Rivertz and took over the farm. She was very musical and interested in culture. Hanna trained as a pianist, gave concerts and taught music. She had several children and was an «excellent housewife», with nannies, maids, kitchen maids and boys. In 1920, Hanna started a mixed choir with rehearsals at her home in Karnes.
Hanna and her husband were very keen on educational work and ensured that the county school was moved to Karnes. The women's organisation she belonged to built a small nursing home. She was involved in the Sanitary Association and a women's organisation. Through the latter, she raised money for an organ in Lyngen church, where she was organist for many years.
