The Sea Sami, or Coastal Sami, have lived in harmony with the Kvens and Norwegians, also known as the ”Meeting of the Three Tribes”. The fjord people have made a living from fishing, hunting and farming right up to the present day.
Harsh Norwegianisation policies and the war removed almost all traces of the Sea Sami culture. Political mobilisation and arenas for the visibility and development of the culture have led to the revitalisation of Sami culture and identity.
